CIA: ISIL terrorists increased their wealth through the sale of Iraqi oil

(IraqiNews.com) Officials at the US Central Intelligence Agency said on Friday that the terrorists of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant have increased their financial resources through the sale of oil and controlling all aspects of supply and logistics – from the oil fields and refineries to the smugglers. CIA officials indicated that the militants of ISIL have enjoyed self-sustained funding and have acquired hundreds of millions of dollars through oil smuggling alone, noting that the organization of ISIL turned into a military organization which is able to seize areas and establish a mechanism for judging.

The officials said, in a report published by Reuters ,that “The militants of the organization of the State Islamic who are fighting in Iraq sells the oil from the fields and refineries, which they had controlled, to local communities and smugglers, thereby increasing their financial resources.”

The officials stressed that “this organization is thriving by massive self-funding at this stage,” pointing out that they “pay money to their fighters and fund public services in the territories under their control.”

The British newspaper Daily Mail confirmed on July 13, 2014 that the organization of the Islamic state of Iraq and the Levant gets million dollars a day from the sale of Iraqi oil to Kurdish businessmen.
