Integrity Commission foils attempt to smuggle 580 million dinars through Trebil

Al-Anbar (IraqiNews.com) On Sunday, the Integrity Commission announced it managed to foil an attempt to smuggle 580 million out of the country through the Trebil border.

The Commission said in a statement followed by IraqiNews.com, “The sub-units of General Inspector Office in the Ministry of Finance managed, under a court order and in cooperation with the Customs Authorities, to frame 580 million dinars prepared for smuggling across the Trebil border.”

It added, “The Office’s rapid move was based on information from supreme bodies in the Iraqi state, which resulted in framing a truck used in the smuggling operation with the driver and the person accompanying the contraband funds.”

The Commission stated that the defendants were taken to the judicial authorities, accompanied by criminal evidence (smuggled money and the truck used in the smuggling operation) to record their statements judicially.”
