(IraqiNews.com) The Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Army, Babacar Zebari, renewed his denial of the political statements which depict the fall of Mosul to ISIS as a conspiracy or betrayal.

He pointed out that the reason behind the dramatic loss rests with one of the following three persons: Assistant of Chief of Staff of the Army, Abboud Qanbar, or the Commander of Ground Forces, Ali Ghaidan or former Prime Minister Maliki because he was the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, and all officers responded to his orders.

Zebari said that the situation was crystal clear; he personally delivered a message from the Kurdish leadership to Maliki, urging him to hit the preliminary gatherings of ISIS fighters or allow the Kurdish forces to confront them before they attacked, but Al-Maliki ignored it.

Zebari stated that Qanbar and Ghaidan submitted their reports to Maliki directly and without the knowledge of the Ministry of Defense, denying there would be any ‘investigative committees’ to investigate the loss of Mosul, and that the speech was just a political talk.
