Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Local official in Sadr City of eastern Baghdad criticized the cell operation that was formed to rescue Baghdad from rain floods for its concerns about the interest of a senior contractor rather than caring about the people’s interests.

The local official who requested not to be named told IraqiNews.com “A phone call was made between chairmen of Baghdad Provincial Council, Kamil al-Zaidi, with other members of the cell operation during which Zaidi called to open Jaish Channel to drain the rainwater in Sadr City.”

He continued saying “However, the phone included a discussion of pociblty of exposing the contractor, Isam al-Asadi to loss in case the Jaish channel is opened without worrying about the loss that incurred the families in this city where most of their homes and furnishings sunk with rainwater.”
