(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – A British Medical magazine announced on Thursday that more than 2,000 Iraqi doctors have been killed since 2003 until now, arguing that the lack of medical facilities and the threats prompted the doctors to leave Iraq.

The Lancet magazine said in a report followed by IraqiNews.com, “more than 2000 Iraqi doctors have been killed since 2003 until now,” adding that, “violence in the country affects everyone, which makes patients die while they are under medical care.”

The magazine added that, “doctors face additional risks of exposure to kidnapping, robbery and revenge killings at the hands of the families that lost members in hospitals.”

The magazine indicated:”some Iraqi doctors assert that the medical facilities in the country is not sufficient for the population whose numbers are increasing, in addition to the threats, prompting doctors to leave Iraq and to make things worse.”
