 More than 3,000 Iraqis killed, injured in August, says UN

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – The United Nations announced on Tuesday the  killing and wounding of more than 3,000 Iraqis in violence acts of terrorism and armed conflicts that took place during the month of August, indicating that Baghdad was the most affected.

The statement of the United Nations said: “The figures released today by the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) reported the deaths of a total of 1,325 Iraqis and the injury of 1.811 others in acts of violence, terrorism and armed conflicts that took place during the month of August 2015” .

The statement added that “the civilian death toll reached 585 people, including 20 people from the employees of the civilian police forces and numbers of victims who were killed in Anbar, while the number of the wounded civilians reached 1,103 people, including 44 associates of civilian police forces.”
