Abadi appoints Riyad Tawfik as Commander of Nineveh Operations
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) On Monday, MP Abdul-Rahman al-Luwaizy said, that the Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi appointed Lt. Gen. Riyad Tawfik as the Commander of Nineveh Operations.
Al-Luwaizy informed IraqiNews that, “Iraqi Prime Minister and Commander of the Armed Forces, Haidar al-Abadi has appointed Lt. Gen. Riyad Tawfik as the Commander of Nineveh Operations in addition to his position as the Commander of the Ground Forces,” noting that, “Lt. Gen. Tawfik is fully aware of the affairs of the province.”
Noteworthy, Abadi has previously said, that the Iraqi forces and the armed volunteers from tribesmen control all the way to Nineveh province, and that the operation to liberate al-Mosul is not far away.
