Anbar Operations announces starting Khalidiya Island liberation operation

(IraqiNews.com) Anbar – On Wednesday the commander of Anbar Operations Major General Ismail al-Mahalawi announced starting a military operation to liberate Khalidiya Island.
Mahalawi said in a press statement followed by IraqiNews.com, “This morning the army’s 10th brigade started a military operation to liberate the villages of Khalidiya Island (23 km east of Ramadi), then reached the Japanese bridge to meet the army’s 14 brigade’s troops north of Fallujah.”
Mahalawi added, “The operation was carried out with the participation of the tribal fighters, international coalition aviation, Iraqi Air Force, Army Aviation and artillery.”
