(IraqiNews.com) Head of US intelligence James Clapper said that the fight against ISIS is not a priority for Turkey, noting that it facilitates the crossing of foreign fighters from Turkey to Syria.

Clapper said before the Senate of Armed Services Committee on Thursday evening, “Turkey has other priorities and other interests instead of intensifying its participation in the war against the terrorist group.”

According to Clapper, the opinion polls in Turkey indicate that ISIS is not deemed a “great threat” and the citizens’ concerns are more related to the economy or the Kurdish agenda.

Clapper also stated that about 60% of ISIS foreign fighters arrive in Syria through Turkey.
