Head of Hawija District Council killed by armed attack in central Kirkuk

(IraqiNews.com) According to a security source in the province of Kirkuk, the president of Hawija District Council had been killed during an armed attack in the center of the province.

The source, who asked to remain anonymous, told IraqiNews.com, “Unidentified gunmen opened fire against the president of Hawija District Council alongside the prominent leader Hussein Ali Saleh al-Jubouri, while passing in his vehicle in the neighborhood of Baghdad Road near the Great Mosque of al-Noor in central Kirkuk, resulting immediately in his death.”

The source also added, “The gunmen fled the scene to an unknown destination, while a security force from the police transferred the dead body to the forensic medicine department.”
