Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi Ministry of Defense’s War Media Cell announced on Sunday, that Iraqi army and Federal Police forces liberated the villages of Ibrahimiya and Zakrotiyah in western Mosul.

The WMC said in a press statement, “The 37th regiment of the army’s 9th armored brigade liberated the village of al-Ibrahimiya in western Mosul.”

“The security forces also raised Iraqi flag over the buildings of the village, as well as inflicting heavy human and material losses on the enemy,” the statement added.

The statement further added that Federal Police troops are liberating al-Zakrotiyah Village on the Tigris River.

Noteworthy, We Are Coming, Nineveh Operations Command announced earlier liberating al-Husseiniyah, Sheikh Yunis, al-Harakiyat and Tal Kaisoum villages in western Mosul from the Islamic State’s control.

Earlier today, Prime Minister and General Commander of Armed Forces Haider al-Abadi announced launching an offensive to liberate western Mosul from the Islamic State’s control.
