 Iraqi joint forces repel ISIS attack, kill 12 elements in Samarra

(IraqiNews.com) Salahaddin – On Wednesday, a security source in Salahuddin Province announced, that the Iraqi joint forces had repulsed an attack carried out by ISIS elements in Samarra District south of Tikrit (170 km north of Baghdad), while killed 12 elements of the organization including three suicide bombers.

The source said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com, “This morning, the joint forces from the army, the police, as well as al-Hashed al-Shaabi were able to repel the attack of ISIS elements on the security forces stationed in Muthanna facility in southwest Samarra (40 km south of Tikrit),” adding that, “ISIS elements included suicide bombers wearing explosive belts and carrying various weapons.”

The sources continued, “Twelve elements of the organization including three suicide bombers were killed,” pointing out that, “The operation was backed by the Iraqi Army Aviation in order to repel the attack.”
