Iraqi police arrest ISIS-allied governor of al-Hawija, Kirkuk

Kirkuk (IraqiNews.com) On Monday, the head of Kirkuk police, Gen. Sarhad Qader said that the security forces arrested the governor of al- Hawija district, accusing him of alliance with ISIS.

Gen. Qader stated for IraqiNews, “This evening, Iraqi security forces conducted a special operation that resulted in the arrest of elements involved in 14 suicide bombings, including the governor of al-Huwija district. The operation was based on intelligence received by the police that the governor and a number of officials in the district council are allies to ISIS.”

He added, “The plan was set to arrest them at the time of their meeting while getting paid by their leader. The security forces seized cars, explosive devices and fake IDs in the raid.”
