ISIS detains displaced people, recruits the young in its ranks southwest of Kirkuk

(IraqiNews.com) On Sunday, a security source in Kirkuk said that the militants of ISIS have detained dozens of people displaced from Tikrit to the southwest areas of the province, emphasizing that the organization separated the youth for the purpose of recruiting them into its ranks.

The source said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “ISIS detained dozens of families this morning, in the way of Kirkuk, Hawija and Riyad area (55 km southwest of Kirkuk), preventing them from heading to Kirkuk to enter through the entrance of Khalid’s office.”

The source, who asked not to be named, added, “The organization separated the young people, who are able to take up arms, from women, the elderly, and children and detained them away from their families, asking them to engage with the organization.”
