ISIS implements largest operation to steal monuments of Mosul

(IraqiNews.com) On Saturday, a local official in Nineveh province revealed, that the ISIS organization implemented the largest organized operation to steal the monuments in the city of Mosul, and booby-trapped the walls of Nineveh.

The official said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “ISIS implemented a systematic operation to steal monuments and valuables from the city of Mosul,” noting that “ISIS hired experts and specialists to facilitate this operation.”

The official, who requested anonymity, added, “ISIS elements have also booby-trapped a number of ancient and important mosques in the city of Mosul,” pointing out that, “There is almost confirmed news stating that the walls of ancient Nineveh were booby-trapped, too.”

A local source in Nineveh province said on January 2, 2015 that the militants ISIS blew up three mosques in downtown Mosul.
