ISIS only lost 1% from territory seized in Iraq, says Pentagon

(IraqiNews.com) On Saturday, the U.S. Department of Defense ‘Pentagon’ stated, that the ISIS organization has only lost 700 square kilometers of land in Iraq, which is 1% from the 55 thousand square kilometers of land  it seized during 2014, pointing out that the organization is currently in a defensive position and suffering difficulties in compensating devastated mechanisms after has lost millions of revenues.

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said in a report followed by IraqiNews.com, “ISIS has so far lost only 700 square kilometers of land in Iraq, that is one percent from the 55 thousand square kilometers it dominated during 2014,” pointing out that, “That is  a small percentage.”

Kirby added “The majority of these square kilometers, which were regained by the Kurdish Peshmerga forces in northern Iraq, are areas of high paramount importance for the ISIS organization,” asserting that, “The extremist organization is now on the defensive.”

He also stated, “We no longer see ISIS trying to control more territory, but it rather focuses on the protection of its ways of communication,” adding that, “The organization is recruiting children to fight or carry out suicide attacks, that might mean that it is having difficulties.”
