Kurdish Peshmerga forces kill 9 ISIS militants in Tal-Afar, clashes intensify in eastern Mosul, says KDP

(IraqiNews.com) The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) announced Saturday, that the paramilitary Kurdish Peshmerga forces have managed to kill 9 ISIS militants and retake al-Salehiyah area in Tal-Afar district in western Mosul.

Saeed Mumozini, the KDP spokesman in Mosul, stated to IraqiNews in an interview, “The Kurdish Peshmerga forces have managed to regain control over the area of al-Salehiyah in Tal-Afar district during violent clashes that resulted in killing 9 militants and destroying 4 armored vehicles, belonged to ISIS.”

For his part, a source within the Peshmerga forces has said today, “Our forces have carried out an intensive artillery strike into ISIS gathering sites in the area of Ba’shiqah, located in eastern Mosul.”

Noteworthy, al-Mosul has been suffering from a major decline in security and severe humanitarian problems in all aspects of life since the ISIS group militants seized the entire city on June 10, 2014.
