Photos: Lamassu sculptures found inside IS tunnels in Mosul

Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) Security forces in Mosul discovered tunnels that were used by the Islamic State group, to avoid being attacked by coalition and Iraqi aircraft, after liberating the majority of areas in Nineveh, Alsumaria News reported on Wednesday.

According to social media activists, one of the tunnels contains several sculptures, including the famous winged bull, which is also known as Lamassu.

The Islamic State was searching for sculptures and monuments to sell them abroad, and thus providing the needed funds for the group.
