Al-Shammari said in an interview for IraqiNews, “The operations of liberating al-Karma aim at securing Baghdad from the shelling on Sho’la and Kadhimiya,” stating that, “We succeeded in our progress in the district and in removing the threat from the capital.”

Al-Shammari added, “The forces advanced to the axis of Tharaa-Tigris for a distance of 8 km and began to move toward Sheihah Bridge, which is considered the main crossing of al-Karma district,” noting that, “By cutting it, ISIS will be besieged in the district from the northern side.”
