Security forces repel ISIS attack north of Samarra

(IraqiNews.com) A security source in Salahuddin announced Saturday, that the security forces have managed to repel an ISIS attack on north of Samarra, leaving at least ISIS elements dead.

The source said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “Security forces of Samarra Operations and the federal police were able today to repel an ISIS attack on the security posts in Sorshenas area north of Samarra (40 km south of Tikrit).”

The source, who requested anonymity, added, “Violent clashes broke out following the attack, and resulted in killing eight elements of the terrorist group and destroying two armored vehicles driven by suicide bombers before they arrived to their targets.”
