(IraqiNews.com) Salahuddin – The commander of Salahuddin Operations Major General Jumaa Anad announced on Sunday that the joint security forces are now just 20 kilometers away from the center of al-Sharqat district north of Tikrit. He further stressed on the fact that the forces reached Klol al-Baj vicinity and destructed thirty (30) booby-trapped vehicles that belonged to the ISIS.

In a statement issued to the media, a copy of which was also obtained by Iraqi News, Anand said, “The joint security forces reached the outskirts of Klol al-Baj in northern Salahuddin,” adding, “200 residents were equipped with weapons and military gear in order to gain control of the area. They came along with two regiments of the local police after liberating the area completely.”

He added, “The joint security force achieved notable results and managed to destruct thirty (30) booby-trapped vehicles of ISIS during the battles. However, two booby-trapped vehicles exploded, resulting in the death of eight soldiers and wounding twenty others, apart from destructing two tanks.”
