10 ISIS militants killed in central Biji, Iraqi forces retake 50% of the city

Salahuddin (IraqiNews.com) On Sunday, a source in Salahuddin Operations Command stated that the Iraqi security forces managed to liberate 3 residential blocks and kill 10 ISIS militants in central Biji.

The source informed IraqiNews, “Iraqi security forces conducted a ground operation with support from the Iraqi Air Force in Biji. The Iraqi troops managed to liberate al-Tamim, al-Hai, al-Asri neighborhoods in central Biji, located 40 km north of Tikrit. The operation resulted in killing 10 ISIS militants and destroying 3 armored vehicles belonged to ISIS.

“Iraqi troops waved the Iraqi flag over al-Fatih mosque in central Biji.” he said.

“Army troops control 50% of Biji city, and a plan to liberate the whole city of Biji within a few days has been carried out in steps by the security forces in southern Tikrit.”
