Anti-ISIS campaign led by US is ineffective, says Russian Foreign Minister

(IraqiNews.com) The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, confirmed on Tuesday, that the international coalition campaign against ISIS led by the US is ineffective, because it is not based on the legitimacy of the UN Security Council.
The minister said in a speech in Moscow followed by IraqiNews.com: “The role of the US-led coalition is ineffective because it is not based on the legitimacy of the UN Security Council. ”
Lavrov added that “the Syrian army is more effective than the coalition in the fight against terrorism and eliminating it,” noting that, “the fight against this terrorist organization is fundamental.”
Lavrov stressed that “ISIS has appeared in Iraq due to interference from outside; by which invented the idea of weapons of mass destruction in order to wage war on Iraq,” calling “to develop effective mechanisms through UNESCO to protect the cultural heritage from the futility of terrorism.”
