Raqqa (Syria News) The US-led coalition announced on Monday that the Syrian Democratic Forces, backed by Washington, managed to penetrate the old city in Syrian Raqqa.

Qasioun News reported that the Syrian Democratic Forces, backed by U.S. troops, managed to penetrate the old city in Syrian Raqqa, after the coalition air force struck the archeological wall of al-Rafekah, allowing security forces to bring down the Islamic State defenses.

Meanwhile, international coalition said in a statement, on Wednesday, that it killed members belonging to the Revolution Commando Forces, who were stationed in al-Tanf border crossing.

It is noteworthy that the operation of the Syrian Democratic Forces to penetrate the old city was conducted in preparation to liberate the town of Markada and the northern countryside of Deir Ezzor.
