Dozens swear allegiance to ISIS in Derna, Libya

 

(IraqiNews.com) A video clip showed dozens of residents in Derna town in eastern Libya vowing allegiance to Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, the leader of the so called Islamic state in Iraq and Syria (ISIS). The footage—posted on social networking sites—showed about 50 people gathering in the town of the Derna in support of Baghdadi, who proclaimed himself the Caliph of the “Islamic state”. A resident in Derna confirmed the validity of the footage that was taken last night.

This video coincided with the increase of international and regional concerns that ISIS might seek to exploit the chaos in Libya to expand its influence.
