Deir Ezzor (Syria News) The self-proclaimed Islamic State group has recently lost one of its important headquarters, located in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor, for the Syrian Democratic Forces militia, Qasioun News reported.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) managed to recapture the Sawa area, in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor, after violent clashes with the Islamic State militants, who were sieged inside the area.

Few days ago, Islamic State group also lost control over Kasra town, which is located on the banks of the Euphrates River, in western Deir Ezzor, after battles with the Syrian Democratic Forces, and thus the number of villages held by the group were lessened to only three villages (Mohammed, Safira, Shakra, Salhiya, Hatala).

It is noteworthy that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) was able to recapture large areas of land, northeast and west of Deir Ezzor, within the offensive, codenamed “al-Jazeera Storm”, and launched early last month.
