Abbawi addresses NAM meeting in Philippines

BAGHDAD /Iraqi News Iraqi Foreign Undersecretary Labid Abbawi delivered Iraq’s speech before the extraordinary meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) on the interfaith dialogue in the Philippine capital Manila on Thursday, according to an Iraqi foreign ministry press release. “Abbawi, in his address, underlined the importance of focusing on human essence of religions and beliefs,” according to the release published on the ministry’s official web site. The Iraqi diplomat also stressed the need to “avoid using religion for political gains and not to associate any religion with terrorism,” calling for respecting the basic principles that have to be available so that a dialogue would achieve its gains.
