Abdul Mahdi, Ahrar delegation discuss future alliances

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Leading figure within the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, former Vice President, Adil Abdul Mahdi discussed with the parliament Ahrar bloc’s delegation the developments of the political scene and the local elections.

A statement by Ahrar bloc cited on Wednesday “A delegation from parliament Ahrar bloc headed by Baha al-Araji met with Abdul Mahdi where both sides exchanged views concerning the alliances that will be developed to form the local governments especially after the victory achieved by both sides.”

The statement quoted Araji as saying “As long as the Iraqi voters sought the change, then we have to respect this will,” stressing ” we are not with preferring the interests of the blocs or slates on account of this will, but we must ensure interests of both the blocs and the voters.”

“We should distribute the ten southern provinces on the winning political blocs (the State of Law Coalition, Citizen Coalition and the Ahrar bloc),” he added.

“Forming government based on partnership will be unsuccessful experience just like the former failed one,” Araji confirmed.
