Agreement to form Iraqi-Kurdish-U.S. committees in Ninewa, Kirkuk, Diala

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi and Kurdish security ministries agreed with the U.S. command in Iraq to form joint committees to deal with the security situation in Ninewa, Kirkuk and Diala, the head of the presidential office in the region, Fouad Hussein, said on Tuesday. “ T he commander of the Multi-National Forces in Iraq, General Ray Odierno, suggested forming Iraqi-Kurdish-U.S. committee to deal with the security conditions in certain provinces between Baghdad and Arbil,” Hussein told Iraqi News, noting that the meeting was held in Baghdad on Sunday (Aug. 15) between Kurdish ministers of Peshmerga and interior and Iraqi defense and interior ministers as well as General Odierno. “The agreement is a good step as it will contribute in maintaining security through the joint coordination between the three parties,” he said, asserting that the U.S. role is important in coordinating and activating the joint work as they will remain in the country until 2011.
