AL chief presses for solutions to Iraq’s debts

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Secretary General of the Arab League Amr Moussa on Saturday stressed the necessity of working out speedy solutions to the issue of Iraqi debts. The remark came during an Arab foreign ministers’ meeting in the Qatari capital. “We are looking forward to Premier Nouri al-Maliki’s participation in the Arab summit…,” a source close to the Iraqi delegation to the meeting quoted Moussa as saying. The source told IraqiNews.com news agency that Moussa has highlighted Iraqi debts and the reopening of Arab embassies in Baghdad as crucial issues. On Saturday, Arab foreign ministers held a preparatory meeting for the Arab summit, scheduled to be launched this Monday in Doha. On the summit’s agenda are the Darfur conflict, the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, as well as the Iraqi and Palestinian issues.
