Al-Iraqiya Coalition to withdraw from govt., if security cabinet posts assigned without its approval, MP says.

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A Legislature of al-Iraqiya Coalition, led by former Prime Minister, Iyad Allawi, has expressed expectation that his Coalition would withdraw from the government, if the candidates for security cabinet posts, would be assigned without its approval.   “A political consensus must be reached among different political blocs for the candidates of the security cabinet posts; and in the event of non-achievement of such consensus, al-Iraqiya Coalition would withdraw from the government,” Othman al-Juheishy told IraqiNews.com news agency.   Juheishy said that his Coalition had nominated five candidates for the post of the Defense Minister, whose names were sent to Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, but he refused them, adding that the nomination of Saadoun al-Duleimy for the post was out of the political agreement.   Prime Minister Maliki had presented the names of his candidates for the security cabinet posts, who were Riyadh Gharib for the National Security, Towfiq al-Yassiry for the Interior Ministry and Saadoun al-Duleimy for the Defense Minister’s post.   “Al-Iraqiya Coalition refuses the nomination of Saadoun al-Duleimy for the Defense Minister’s post, because that is out of the framework of the political agreement, concluded between the political blocs before the formation of the government,” Juheishy said.   Differences have appeared over four months ago about the candidates for the security cabinet posts, that are still vacant, especially the Interior and Defense Ministers posts, with the first being the share of the National Coalition and the second of al-Iraqiya Coalition, with each side rejecting the candidate of the other.   SKH (RT)   609
