Al-Iraqiya Coalition’s Spokesman charges “hidden hands” with hampering its compromise with State of Law Coalition

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Spokesman for al-Iraqiya Coalition, led by former Prime Minister Iyad Allawi, has charged what he described as “hidden hands” with hampering a compromise to be reached between al-Iraqiya and the State of Law Coalition , led by Iraq ’s Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki.   “There are hidden hands striving to undermine a compromise to be reached between al-Iraqiya and the State of Law Coalitions, aimed at pushing the country towards serious threats, through the exploitation of the current circumstances Iraq is facing nowadays,” Sakir Kattab told IraqiNews.com news agency.   Al-Iraqiya Coalition had held a news conference last Friday, in which its Leader, Iyad Allawi, had said that the dialogue with the State of Law Coalition was considered a “loss of time,” threatening to withdraw from the political process, in the event that the Arbil Agreement, based on the initiative of Kurdistan President, Massoud Barzani, won’t be implemented.   Abbass Abboud, the Legislature for the National Coalition, led by Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, told IraqiNews.com that Allawi’s statements, threatening to withdraw from the political process at this time “is not right, because there is no possibility to lay down a ceiling for the dialogue between both sides, adding that such statements would lead to further complications, at a time when the political process needs joining of ranks among political forces in Iraq.   Noteworthy is that the President of Kurdistan Region, Massoud Barzani, had issue an initiative to settle the political crisis on 16/9/2010, comprising an 8-12-member committee, to represent different political blocs, to start talks to settle the current suspended differences and the discussion of the formation of a government of national-partnership.   Al-Iraqiya Coalition possesses 90 out of the Parliament’s 325 seats, whilst the National Coalition possesses 160 seats and the Kurdistan Coalition holds 35 seats.   SKH (RT)     434
