Al-Maliki reviews with Iranian president boosting bilateral ties

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki discussed on Monday in Tehran with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad ways of boosting political, economic and trade ties, according to a statement from his office. “Al-Maliki met on Monday afternoon (Oct. 18) with President Ahmadinejad, with whom he discussed ways of fostering bilateral relations in various domains,” said the statement received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “Al-Maliki underlined his country’s keenness to expand relations with Iran and with all neighboring countries to realized security and stability for the whole region,” it added. The Iranian president for his part, asserted Iran’s support to form the new government, noting that Iraq is an important country in the region. SH (P) 2
