Alewi: Elections law draft contains big issues

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Karim Alewi, of the Iraqi National Alliance stated that the Elections law draft has big issues.

Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com), he said “The last session of the parliament witnessed the postponement of the Elections law drafts because some political blocs did not state their opinions over this law.”

“There are many issues in this law where the Kurdistani Alliance wants the law to be in an Open-slate system and one department, whereas the INA wants it to be an Open-slate with multiple departments,” he added, noting that “The parliamentary Legal Committee did not reach a compromise over this law that will be referred to the voting next week.”
