Amal al-Rafidain bloc rejects announcing Karbala Region

Karbala (IraqiNews.com) Amal al-Rafidain bloc rejected the proposal of announced Karbala Region if the political sides withdraw confidence from the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki.”

The spokesman of the bloc, Ali Abdul Fatah, stated to IraqiNews.com “The stance of Amal al-Rafidain bloc is clear in rejecting this proposal,” noting that “Announcing Karbala Region should not be based on political stances rather it is an administrative decision that should serve the citizens of the province.”

“If the governor, who belongs to the State of Law Coalition, headed by the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, announces Karbala Region, we will consider this stance as personal rather than official,” he concluded.

A number of Chairmen of Provincial Councils and Governors of the Central and the southern provinces held a meeting to discuss the possibility of announcing the central and Southern Provinces Region in Basra province on Thursday.

Source from Basra PC stated to IraqiNews.com “The attendants of the meeting discussed the possibility of announcing the Central and Southern Provinces Region in case the political sides withdraw confidence from the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki.”

This meeting comes after some provinces including Basra, Dhi-Qar and Wassit threatened to announce their provinces as independent regions if the political sides withdraw confidence from the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki.
