BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com – The Arab League’s Council is convening in Amman Wednesday, on Foreign Ministers level, to discuss preparations for the next Arab Summit, scheduled to be held in Baghdad at the end of this month and the current circumstances in the Arab countries, a Jordanian newspaper reported.   “The Arab League’s Council is meeting on the level of Foreign Ministers, in Amman today (Wednesday), under chairmanship of Oman, to discuss preparations for the Arab Summit, scheduled to convene in Baghdad at the end of March and the current Arab national security situation, as well as the activation of the Arab Peace & Security Council,” Jordan’s ‘Al-Arab’ newspaper quoted an Arab League official as saying.   The newspaper quoted the Arab official as saying that Amman ’s meeting “shall also discuss the developments in Libya and the cancellation of its delegate in the Arab League, in protest to the use of force by President Gaddafi against his people’s revolution.”   “The other developments in the Arab Region and the escalation of the protests in a number of Arab states, as well as the revolutions in Egypt and Tunisia , shall also be discussed in the said Arab League’s 135 session,” he said. The official stressed that the Arab League Council’s session includes 21 points, among them taking a final decision towards the holding of the Arab Summit in Baghdad and the candidate for the new Secretary General for the Arab League, in the aftermath of the rejection of the majority of Arab States of Egypt ’s candidate, Dr. Mufid Shehab for the post.   Noteworthy is that Iraq had announced an extensive plan to rehabilitate Baghdad ’s main streets, buildings and 5-star hotels, to host the scheduled Arab League’s meeting.   RT / SKH 522
