Asadi: Judiciary has right to request government to address Turkey to hand over Hashimi

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Khalid al-Asadi, of the State of Law Coalition confirmed that “The Judicial authority has the right to request the Iraqi Government to address Turkey to hand over the convicted Tariq al-Hashimi.”

He stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “The government is not concerned with Hashimi’s case since this case is judicial where Hashimi was sentenced to death in absentia.”

“This sentence has many implications including that if Hashimi submitted to the judicial authorities, he will have the right for re-conducting his trial and if not this sentence will have to be implemented,” he assured.

“The judiciary may ask the government to address Turkey over Hashimi,” he concluded.

Earlier, The Iraqi Supreme Criminal Court issued a death sentence in absentia against the fugitive Vice President, Tariq al-Hashimi, and his Office’s Director, Ahmed Qahtan, for being involved in murdering the lawyer Suhad al-Ubaidi and the national security officer Talib Balasim and his wife.
