Astonishment on Iraqi silence for establishing regions south of Iraq, MP

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqiya MP  Khalid al-Alwani expressed his astonishment for the silence practiced on the requests of some southern provinces to turn their entities into regions, pointing out that central government interference in Salahuddin province’s affairs led to such announcement. Alwani told IraqiNews.com that “some entities were rejecting the regions idea and called for the unity of Iraq, while they were keen about inserting it in the constitution”. “Such a change is out of their fear to lose their gains and control on the situation in the country”, he added. Member of the Parliamentary Integrity Commission confirmed that the attitude of the central government led the provinces for such demands. During the last two weeks, calls for special regions arose in Iraqi internal politics, starting from Salahuddin province.RM (TS)Number of Reads:63
