Barzani’s initiative under discussion by National Alliance, al-Iraqiya – Kurdistan Coalitions

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq’s National Alliance, al-Iraqiya and Kurdistan Coalitions, are scheduled to confer in Baghdad later this week, to activate the political agreements concluded among them, the semi-official al-Sabah newspaper reported on Thursday.   “The meeting among the said Coalitions shall discuss, in their scheduled meeting, the activation of the political agreements, concluded among them, especially the document, signed by the three Coalitions,” the National Coalition’s Leader, Hassan al-Sunaid was quoted by the newspaper as saying.   Sunaid said that the tripartite meeting would comprise Dr. Nouri Shawes from the Kurdistan Coalition, Legislature Salman al-Jumeily from al-Iraqiya Coalition, as well as al-Sunaid from the National Coalition.   Al-Iraqiya Leader, Iyad Allawi, has stated earlier that “nothing had been achieved from the initiative of Kurdistan President, Massoud Barzani, that ended a long political dialogue after the end of the parliamentary elections last year.”   The Leader in the Kurdistan Coalition, Feriad Rawanduzi, had stated to IraqiNews.com that “non-achievement of the remaining items in Barzani’s initiative did not mean that it had failed,” pointing out that the initiative had “helped to save the situation at a time when the political crisis had reached a phase of complete dead end.”   The Iraqi Parliament on 21/12/2010 had granted trust to the government program of Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, after a long struggle that continued for 9 months, following the general elections that took place on March 7, 2010.   Maliki’s cabinet had comprised 41 ministries, whilst he kept the administrations of the Interior, Defense and National Security under him, on “acting” basis, and he granted several other ministries for other personalities, also on the same basis.   SKH (RT) 126
