Basra protest at anti-Christian attacks

BASRA /Iraqi News Dozens of Christians in Basra have taken to the streets to protest acts of violence against their counterparts in Mosul City. “The peaceful demonstration is heading towards the Basra provincial council. Protestors are carrying olive branches and calling on the government to protect Mosul‘s Christians…,” a member of the provincial council in Basra, Saeed Mikki, told Iraqi News. Several demonstrations have taken place in Ninewa’s Christian areas in protest at anti-Christian attacks. Throughout the past days, Christians in Mosul have been the target of terrorist attacks that left some of them dead or wounded. Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. SS (P) 1
