Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Jamal al-Batiekh, the head of the Parliamentary Committee for Agricultural and Water, described the rejection of the Trade Minister, Khair Allah, Babakir, for signing a trade pact with Iran without settling the issue of Wind river as “Honorable.”

In a press statement received by IraqiNews.com on Friday, he said “Babakir’s attitude is highly appreciated and respected by all political blocs where he assured that the minister must be national and not related to a certain part or community, so we call all to set the Iraqi benefit before any other benefits.”

“Blocking the water of Wind river by the Iranian government in the last seven years has destroyed many fruitful orchards,” calling the government to “Diplomatically interfere in order to avoid having a disaster in the areas that depend on this river.”

“Wind river is the main source to Khanaqeen district and it has strategic importance because it is the main source of water for many areas,” calling Iran not to block the water canals and adheres to the international pacts.”

It is worth mentioning that the Trade Minister, Khair Allah Babakir, did not sign a trade contract with Iran without releasing the water of Wind river.
