Biden’s visit to Iraq is a message to Iran – analyst

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: U.S.Vice-President Joe Biden’s visit to Iraq today is an indirect message to Iran that America is present in Iraq and its influence will continue after the withdrawal of the U.S.forces, political analyst said. “The United States needs to organize its final withdrawal, which is the explicit fact of the visit, but it has another connotation to tell Iran we are present,” Al-Naser Duraid told IraqiNews.com. He pointed out that there are Israeli fears related to the withdrawal of the U.S.forces from the Middle East, in general, including the situation in Syria which will affect the Lebanese scene and Iranian probable threats amid reports on expected Israeli attack against Iran. “Biden is attempting to ease the worries of lobbyists in America that it will not leave its main ally, Israel, facing Iranian threats,” Duraid continued. Earlier, reports announced the arrival of U.S.Vice President Joe Biden to Baghdad on a previously unannounced visit. RM (TS)/SR 270
