Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The British Prime Minister David Cameron congratulated Iraq and the Islamic World on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) received a copy of a statement issued by the British embassy in Baghdad which quoted the British PM Cameron as saying “The Eid is an occasion for gathering friends and family, and spreads joy and happiness to the souls and on this occasion, I wish to record my appreciation for the huge contribution offered by British Muslims for our country.”

“I would like to send special thanks to those Muslims who have contributed to that remarkable success for the London Olympics, both of volunteers whom welcomed the visitors to our country, those who were within the armed forces that helped secure our safety, or those who won medals and so won place in the hearts of our people,” Cameron added.

He stressed “The peace and intimacy are the spirit of the Eid, and I am proud of the way that Britain expressed its values to the world during the Olympics, so for Muslims around the globe, and during this very important Eid occasion, I wish you a blessed Eid filled with happiness and contentment.”
