Civilian gathering in Baghdad against displacing Christians

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A group of civil organizations and civil society activists will stage a gathering in central Baghdad on Friday, protesting the forced displacement of Christians in Mosul, according to a statement of the Iraqi civil society initiative on Wednesday. “The gathering will start next Friday from Mar Joseph Church in al-Karada until the Cheldean association in central Baghdad to spread the peaceful dialogue and to defend the minorities’ rights as well as resisting the forced displacement of Christians in Mosul,” said the statement recived by IraqiNews.com. Several Christian families have fled Mosul throughout the past days, while Iraqi security sources said that a few Christians were killed in separate incidents in the city, signaling an increase in the wave of attacks against religious communities in the northern volatile city.
