Civilian situations in Kurdistan border areas are “very bad”, Human Rights Watch

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Human Rights Watch announced today that “the border attacks by Iran and Turkey led to at least 10 civilian killings and immigration of hundreds since July last,” describing their conditions as “very bad,” according to a statement issued by the organization. The statement, as received by IraqiNews.com, reported that the deputy executive director for Middle East and North Africa Joe Stork said that “the civilians are suffering from border attack year by year, but now it is very bad”, calling Turkey and Iran “to protect the civilians and their properties, as well as respecting international human rights law”. It quoted Iraqi official saying that Iranian and Turkey stands were “defying and indifferent while saying that they have the right to attack the armed groups in north Iraq, though they denied they were attacking civilians”. The border villages on Qandeel Mountains in Kurdistan region are under Iranian and Turkish bombardment and shelling against the PKK and PJAK parties.  RM (TI)/SR 347
