Closure of Iranian Khesrawi border point due to insecure situation

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com:  Iranian authorities announced today the closure of the Khesrawi border point due to the insecure situation in Iraqi Khaniqin town, according to Iranian Mehr news agency. “The pilgrims were banned from entry today from Khesrawi border point and turned to Mehran opening,” the agency reported. The main reason for non-entry is that some Khaniqin citizens obstructed the roads, which became insecure to the pilgrims. More than 1200 Iranian pilgrims visited the holy shrines in Kerbela and Najaf province through the closed vent, which is the nearest border point to the two holy provinces. This is the second time during the last three months that this vent is closed due to some security situation. This time was to the disturbances in Diala province which was declared to be a region that led the closure of the main roads to Baghdad and Kirkuk. RM (TI)/SR 490
