Davutoglu, Allawi discuss internal Iraqi updates

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) After his return to his country, the Turkish Foreign Minister, Ahmed Davutoglu, and the head of the Iraqiya Slate, Ayad Allawi, discussed the updates of the Iraqi internal situation according to a statement by the Turkish News Agency on Friday.

“The meeting was not attended by media outlets,” the statement added.

The statement quoted diplomatic source as saying “Allawi briefed Davutoglu about the updates in Iraq and the Iraqi parliament,” noting that “The two sides discussed the political issues and exchanged the views over the Arab Spring in addition to the developments of the situation in Syria and Lebanon.”

“Davutoglu informed Allawi about the results of his visit to Erbil and Kirkuk on last Thursday, assuring Turkey’s adherence to improve the Iraqi security, economic situation in Iraq away from the sectarian threats,” the statement concluded.

Earlier, the Turkish Foreign Minister, Ahmed Davutoglu, has arrived in Kirkuk after visiting Erbil.

Davutoglu has arrived to Kurdistan Region on last Wednesday where the Premier of Kurdistan Region, Nijirvan Barzani, has received him in Erbil airport.

The Iraqi Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized the visit and considered it as a violation for Iraq’s sovereignty.
