Dhi-Qar threatens to declare a region

Dhi-Qar, Nassiriya (IraqiNews.com) The Governorate of Dhi-Qar province threatened to “declare the province as an independent region in case of withdrawing the trust of Maliki.”

The Member of the Provincial Council Hamud Abdul Hassan reported in press statement “The province will be declared a region like the rest of southern provinces as Basra and Wassit if the trust has been withdrawn from al-Maliki because who will replace him will be from those who are supporting dividing Iraq and terrorism.”

The statement added that “The province has previously delayed the federalism resolution in harmony with the policy of al-Maliki who thought that the people are not ready yet for such conception and they will consider it as separation decision and not as decision to form an administrative formation within the state.”

The Provincial Councils of Wassit and Basra provinces had threatened to declare their provinces as regions in case of withdrawing the trust of the Premier Nouri al-Maliki for the same reason.
