Elections for new parliamentary term in Kurdistan this year

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Kurdistan region in 2009 will witness elections for a new parliamentary term, the speaker of the region’s parliament, Adnan al-Mufti, said on Thursday, according to a release issued by Kurdistan’s parliament. “The constitution of Kurdistan region, provincial elections and the budget are all draft laws at their complementary stages,” read the release as received by IraqiNews.com news agency, quoting Mufti during a meeting with the British deputy consul in Arbil city. “The parliament will debate all those draft laws,” he added.
