Elections historic achievement for Iraq, says al-Maliki

BAGHDAD /Iraqi News Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki on Monday noted that he considered the elections as a historic achievement in Iraq. “The country was in need of a new parliament and a new government to start economic projects,” al-Iraqia channel quoted al-Maliki as saying during his meeting with international monitors. “We will continue the works we started according to the outcome of the elections and the main mission is the reconstruction,” he said. He thanked the monitors of the UN and the Arab League for their effort in supervising the elections which held on Sunday (March 7). SH (P)/SR 5
